The Western Region Drug and Alcohol Task Force (WRDATF) is developing its Strategic Plan for 2017 – 2019. A public consultation process is underway and the Task Force is working in partnership with PPNs in the Region (Galway, Mayo & Roscommon) to ensure meaningful engagement at local level.

Consultation is happening in a number of ways:

– A call for written submissions was made in mid-December. If you would like to give your views in writing, please complete the attached submission questionnaire. The deadline for receipt of submissions is January 31st.

– A series of workshops will take place in January/February across the Region. These will be interactive meetings to hear your views on the role and activities of the Task Force. Come along to one of these sessions and tell us what you think:

  • Monday, January 23rd, 6pm – 8pm, Menlo Park Hotel, Galway (finger food will be served at 5.45pm)
  • Wednesday, February 1st, 2.30pm – 4.30pm, Abbey Hotel, Roscommon
  • Thursday, February 2nd, 10am – 12pm, Green Room, MacHale Park, Castlebar
The Task Force does not provide mainstream drug and alcohol services in the Western Region, therefore these workshops will focus on the specific role and activities of the Task Force (such as research, training/awareness raising, community capacity building, collaboration between service providers, and policy influencing).

If you are concerned about drug and alcohol issues in your area, or if group/organisation provides services to those affected, please come along to one of the workshops and give us your views. Please email info@wrdtf.ie to confirm your attendance.
